Well, I've finished a few purses! Hurrah! They've come out fairly well considering that I'm fumbling around on my own. It is true what they say, "practice makes perfect". I've noticed that the sewing line is getting straighter and my foot is getting more comfortable on the presser foot. I'm not saying I will get a speeding ticket soon, but I'm beginning to get that "oh yeah" recognition feeling that comes after doing something a number of times. I've also made several change purses. The kind with the little kiss lock frame. They are really adorable and pretty easy to make. I am looking forward to gaining enough expertise to sell some of my new wares online. I'll take some pics soon and post my progress online.

Hey Denice
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining my blog. I want to encourage you to keep on working this thing, you will get it.
One of the gals who taught at the shop at which I was teaching is very prolific. She turned out impeccably constructed items, and more often than I did, so I assumed she sped through the process. One day she was sewing at the store, and I commented on I thought she sewed much faster. She said, no, she sewed for the pleasure of it, so she wasn't rushing through it. That caused me to look at how I approached my creative time, I slowed down, and you know I actually accomplish more, enjoy it more, and I think my results are better quality.
Have a blast,
Linda
Hi reading your posts kinda takes me back to when i first started sewing my bags. I've come a long way! Practice truly does make perfect. Many of my customers comment on my workmanship and I'm really happy they notice. Never rush thru'. You gotta enjoy it. I enjoy cutting fabric now. The one thing I dislike tho' is changing thread! All the best!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the encouraging words you left on my blog. I DO know that God is with me through all my trials or I wouldn't have made it this far. I appreciate your standing with me in prayer!
